THESIS: CREATIVE PRODUCTION INFRASTRUCTURE
This thesis proposes Creative Production Infrastructure on the Federation Square East, which critiques Melbourne’s maker culture and provides a sustainable future typology. This proposal will facilitate people of different points of view coming together towards a common goal, which is to make and generate value, whether that be creating material objects or exploring immaterial ideas and process.
A ‘Creative City’ is not simply the sum of individuals doing their own thing, it is the result of multidisciplinary groups interacting. This requires a unified system that challenges individual systems to allow for collective interactions to occur. By introducing hybrid programs, possibilities for these collective interactions can increase. The architecture is the framework that facilitates these interactions to occur. The proposal is adaptable and flexible to facilitate both current programs and future growth.
