MAKERS INNOVATION HUB: COLMIH 4.0. (MACHINING AESTHETIC 3.1)

The proposed future makers innovation hub, COLMIH4.0, explores the theme "Future of Making", particularly focusing on the relationship between the Maker and Machine within the manufacturing industry and how architecture can facilitate this. Throughout our research, we came across common themes that were constantly emphasised: What is the future of handmade? And how will this be redefined with the advancement of technology? And how does architecture aid to facilitate this?

We explored the continuous processes of individual makers, who are developing their craft. The notion of traditional craft is changing and there are opportunities for hand tools to integrate with technology to respond to social and economic changes. COLMIH 4.0 uses topological deformation to facilitate the spaces to create different interconnecting worlds. Through this, the spaces become permeable, creating different conditions yet have outer connections. In our proposal, the ceiling and floor responds to these conditions and provide an infrastructure to deliver spaces that can change and respond to future possibilities.
